on the other hand, i’ve read nearly an entire book in 4 days… that’s some kinda world record for me!

This guy, Jose Henriquez, is an evangelical preacher. The more I listened to him answering questions, the more I was aware of how amazingly powerful God is.  Those guys only had 3 days worth of food in the mine, and they were down there 17 days before even getting help. How on earth could that much food have lasted 33 of them so long?!  Leadership in Chile didn’t think they stood a chance.  He also said that when the second drill was put down to reach them, it nearly missed them, but a rock jolted it off track and it reached them. They were underground, trapped from 5th August until mid – october, and everyone came up, alive, a bit poorly but in one piece. I was just in so much awe, that’s all it can be described as.

Who am I to say that things are impossible?! If God, MY God, can rescue miners who were trapped for months in a mine, why can he not do things completely out of the ordinary?! I should wait with expectation for WHEN God is going to do it.

‘Our God is greater, Our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other. Our God is healer, awesome in power’….

post-assignment, the pile of books used to write 3,000 words

Red bull kept me going, and being on a diet and not going to buy stashes of chocolate was ridiculously hard. But i finally got all 3,000 words written 10 minutes before our deacons meeting on Wednesday.

Unfortunately I hadn’t proof read it, because I’d spent hours and hours writing it. so i had to wake up at 6am to spend some time proof reading it and amending bits. We’ll see what result I get.
I don’t think i blogged about my last one, but i did really well, and got a B…. I really doubt strongly that this one will get such a good mark, but i guess in a couple of months we’ll find out!

Next Sunday (30th) I’m going to college to spend some time in lectures and hanging out with cool people. It’s the last time we get to see the 2nd years, which i’m pretty gutted about really, as we’ve only just met! Having intense weeks together means that friendships grow strong quite quickly i guess.

Life is still very busy. Now i’ve completed this essay I’m spending some time praying and thinking about our weekend away which is happening in February. We have a massive mixture of people with all sorts of personalities, and so it’s going to be challenging to plan stuff that meets peoples needs. I never know who is reading this stuff, but please pray that we have a good time away (18-20th feb) and that running my first weekend away is a success. I’m hoping that i come back having deepened friendships with these young people, especially because for a few of them, this is their first weekend away!!

The hope of a holiday with some friends at the end of april/beginning of may is keeping me going and excited! we havent been together on holiday for a long time and i miss them very much while i’m living in london.

got some ‘office slippers’ which keep my feet warm when i’m snowed in at work.

spent hours painting lots of scenery with stacey for the GB panto.

i’ve seen a lot more snow fall in a week than i ever have in my whole life!

i have (almost!) conquered my cat fear, maybe only with munchkin though, and that is thanks to a few glasses of wine!

it’s becoming a bit of a tradition to go the german market along the southbank with some close friends at christmas time. last saturday, restaurants were too busy, so we went for a bratwurst from the market and some churros. i’d never even seen churros before, but they were like strips of doughnut with dipping chocolate-  very yummy and very sickly!

we went to see messiah in concert that night, which was a new experience. i was shattered from over-working that weekend, and could feel my eyes dropping at some moments, but it was good.

as i type, snow is heavily falling from the sky, and i feel like i’m inside a snowglobe in my office. it’s very pretty, but making me sad. university students all over the country are trying to get back this weekend for christmas, and i can imagine there are already people stuck all over the place. i am praying that our uni students get back safely tonight, tomorrow and sunday. (and hoping that the snow goes before tuesday so i can go home to southampton for christmas!!)

tonight is the last youth club we’re having before 2011. we’re having a chilled out christmas party. i’m deciding when to brave going to do the shopping for it, and am secretly hoping this snow slows down a bit, but it’s only getting worse.

time to put the coat, scarf, hat, gloves etc on and brave it i think!

hopefully next term will be less busy and i will have some more spare time to blog.

mmm, pasta in a mug for lunch in the office.

i love the fact that i go to Bible college…. the snow has set in and people at Cliff are knee deep in snow. I immediately panicked that Mr Postman won’t deliver my essay in time for the deadline… after speaking to our course administrator, (who sounded well relaxed about the whole thing)… i think i’ve come to the conclusion that it will hopefully get there on Monday, but I don’t think it’s the end of the world if it doesnt, because everyone is in the same situation.

Phew! Off to the post office I go (after tidying the office, which has bits of paper all over the place, as well as books everywhere!)
